January 2023 update

Happy Year New!

We would like to welcome you all back from your Christmas break.

Before the end of term, unfortunately, we had many illnesses going around. It is always a good idea to take a break from it all and get some well-earned rest! We know the team needed to recuperate as they worked really hard to keep the nursery going right up until the end of the year.

We heard many stories from the children regarding their holidays! Some travelled abroad, some went on a train, others visited Santa and others met with friends. It is always lovely to hear these stories and we cherish these moments when the child shares their experiences with the staff.

"Like a sponge these children absorb. It is marvellous, this mental power of the child. Only we cannot teach directly. It is necessary that the child teach himself, and then the success is great."

New Staff

This term we have two new members of staff joining the Little Cakes Team; Mrs. Nichola Chaudhuri and Mrs. Vanessa Woods. Nichola has previously worked at a larger chain nursery for over 10 years and would like to try something new. She has older children of her own and also helps out in a care home. Vanessa previously worked at Little Cakes Montessori School (previously known as Chorleywood Montessori School) so she knows us well! She took some time out to spend with her own children and is now back to help us out during the afternoon sessions. Vanessa has also worked locally at Chenies School.

Please extend them a warm welcome if you see them!

Topics for this term

This term we will be looking at Winter animals, discussing the Arctic & Antarctica, experimenting with ice, how animals keep warm and of course, doing lots of cooking and baking! The pre-school room will also be working on Picasso and trying to create their own masterpieces after half term!

We will also be celebrating the year of the rabbit for Chinese New Year. Mrs Shah usually helps us cook some wonderful dishes during the Chinese New Year. We hope to share them with you!

Nursery plans

We are working on creating a new staff room for the team next to the nursery building. As well as a comfortable dedicated staff area, this will hopefully create more storage space plus a training and learning space for the staff. Please be mindful of any building work that will be carried out in the car park area.
