November 2022 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We've had a busy start to the term, lots of new starters in our baby room and lots of children transitioning into the preschool room. We have been very fortunate to have most of these children settle in well! Our settling in periods are short for this very reason. The quicker you transition your child, the quicker they settle, they get to know their key worker as well as all the other children that come in on their set days.
Well done to all the children that have managed to transition from nappies to using the toilet! This is a huge step for both children and staff! If you need any advice on transitioning please come and speak to your child's keyworker and they will be happy to discuss this with you.
We have celebrated a number of festivities such as Diwali, Rosh Hashanah, Bonfire night and our annual Scarecrow trail. We hope you managed to come and take a look at our Sir David Attenborough Scarecrow! The children learnt a bit about his love for animals, our planet Earth and The Blue Planet.
Both rooms have enjoyed baking using apples, including savoury apple tarts, apple muffins and of course apple crumble!
The pre-school children have been enjoying having stories read to them by parents. Thank you to everyone that has popped in so far! There will be plenty of opportunities for you to join in very soon.
Illnesses
As the seasons change and winter draws closer many children have been coming into school with bad coughs. Even though your child may seem ok in themselves, the spread of germs when coughing can affect many children as well as staff within the classroom. It is important that your child has enough time to rest and recuperate away from the nursery setting. If your child is unwell please do not send them in with Calpol or any other medicines as it means they are not well enough to be at nursery. These medicines only mask what your child is really feeling and can make the situation worse if they do not rest at home.
Christmas!
Is it too early to mention the 'C' word?? Christmas is always a crazy time of year even for our nursery. We are busy crafting, learning songs, preparing for our mini concert (preschool room) and organising our annual bake sale. We will be holding a short concert with the children and inviting parents of the preschool room to come and watch. We will also be selling crafts made by the children for both rooms. You will be able to purchase things on the day.
