Spring!

What a busy February!

We celebrated Chinese New Year - the year of the Tiger. The children cooked some dumplings with Mrs Shah and decorated some lovely New Years red envelopes. We even tried our hand at some beautiful Chinese writing. For Valentine's day the children took part in heart crafts and baking. The children particularly enjoyed flower arranging and the artist of the month was Monet - the children created their very own masterpieces.

March 1st was pancake day, the children enjoyed flipping (and eating!) pancakes with Mrs Glass.

March 3rd was World Book Day - thank you to all the parents for helping their children come in dressed up as their favourite book characters, we all had great fun! Some of the children’s top books were; The Tiger who came to tea, The Gruffalo, Owl Babies and of course The Gingerbread man. A BIG thank you to Kayan, Elizabeth and Cyrus’s parents for coming in to read with the children. Please keep reading at home with your children. And remember to use the book tokens that were given out.

The topics and activities we are doing and have completed in March include;

- Flowers and Plants.

- The life cycle of a seed.

- What does a plant need to grow? Sunshine and water.

- The importance of caring for our environment and living things.

- Daffodils (a sign that spring is on its way!). Real life still drawings of Daffodils.

- Colourful Tulips crafts

- Sunflowers – decorating pots and planting seeds (in preparation for mothers day).

- Looking after our animals, we made bird feeders using orange shell and filling with Bird seeds.

- Bunny, lamb and chick crafts

March 17th was St Patricks Day. A huge thank you to Malachy's parents who came in to sing with the children.

On Monday 21st March, our ‘living eggs’ will arrive and the children will get to see the chicks hatch out of their shells over a 10 day period. Both pre-school and baby room will get to experience this wonderful process and will have the opportunity to hold a chick! The children are so excited to watch the eggs hatch. Please ask to come and see them!

A reminder, for those celebrating, Mother's Day is on Sunday 27th March.

We will be holding our annual Easter Bonnet competition. We would love for you to help your child create their own Easter hat. The more effort your child puts in the better! This competition is open to both Pre-school and Baby room. The hat must fit your child’s head. We have had some amazing creations over the past years and are looking forward to seeing some this year. Please ensure your child's entry is in by Wednesday 30th March. The winners will be announced on Friday 1st April.
